At Gainsborough State School we ensure that our students' academic success is supported by leveraging their interaction with digital aspects of learning, and by ensuring they have the necessary skills to determine, critically assess, discover and create new knowledge in innovative ways. Teachers select the most appropriate digital choices to ensure that students have the skills to understand how to use digital platforms to enhance their ability to build new knowledge, collaborate and share new learnings.
Prep - Year 3
In Prep through to Year 3, students will access iPad technology in a shared delivery of one device between three students. This means that classes will be able to utilise this technological tool in small groups to assist our students develop key technical skills and attributes.
Years 4 - 6
Students in Years 4 through to Year 6 will leverage digital technologies to enhance their learning and prepare them for innovative educational programs geared towards future based learning. Students will operate under one to one iPad device access. Students will access these technological tools (when appropriate) to assist them to develop their critical thinking, creativity, innovation and insight.
We do not operate under a bring your own device scheme and all iPads are utilised under the school SRS program. Our students are not on devices for the entirety of the school day. The Gainsborough State School learning environments create both physical and virtual environments that allow students to be connected collaborators, who can explore their learning via access to small and large group collaborative spaces, quiet places for reflection and take up time, areas for activity based lessons that are based on investigation and inquiry.
