The Preparatory year is compulsory. All Queensland children of eligible age attend a full-time Preparatory year of education before starting Year 1. Children need to turn five by 30 June in the year they enrol in Prep.

A reminder that proof of your child's age needs to be produced at your enrolment interview. Acceptable forms of identification are a Birth Certificate or a Passport.

You can help your child prepare for their first year of school by:
- building confidence
- strengthening their independence
- having a daily routine
- packing a healthy lunch
- knowing your school
- getting involved with your school
- doing family activities at home.
